Temples, Palaces & Sunsets

Meet & Greet
Your guide will be waiting for you on the sky bridge of BTS Saladaeng Station connecting to the Central Department Store, please make sure you be there at least 15 minutes prior to the tour begins.

Take to the Skies, Cruise on the Waters
The best way to zip around Bangkok as speedily as a local is 1. Motorbike Taxi, 2. SkyTrain, 3. River, on this day we will try out the latter two as the first one might be a little scary for the uninitiated 🙂

Grand Palace
Construction of the palace began on May 6, 1782, at the order of the founder of the Chakri Dynasty, King Rama I. He moved the capital city from Thonburi (near Bangkok) to Bangkok. The palace has been the official residence of the Kings of Thailand since 1782. The subsequent Kings, his court and his Royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925.

Wat Phra Keo – Temple of the Emerald Buddha
Adjoining the Grand Palace you will find the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Keo), this is probably the best known of the royal temples. It is regarded as the most important temple in all Thailand and it is the venue of many of the numerous religious ceremonies in which the King participates, especially at the beginning of each of the three seasons when His Majesty personally changes the elaborate robes of the Buddha image, carved out of a single piece of emerald-green jasper.

Wat Pho – Temple of the Reclining Buddha
Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Po), the actual name of which is Wat Phra Jetupon, famous as the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok, with its precincts covering 80,000 square meters in all.

Wat Saket – The Golden Mount
This Landmark, on the only hill in Bangkok, is of great significance for all followers of The Lord Buddha. 320 stairs take you up to the top for panoramic views of Rattanakosin Island. Wat Saket or the Temple of the Golden Mount, Bangkok, is an ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya Period.

Cruise Back
Walk to the pier and take a boat back to downtown Bangkok at Siam Square, from there your guide will bid you farewell.
